75 Years of American Studies at UT Austin

This upcoming fall, our department will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. We mark 1941 as the year that the first courses were offered and the beginning of an illustrious tradition. Since then, American Studies at UT has grown steadily over the decades in the number and interdisciplinary breadth of its course offerings, its undergraduate and graduate degrees, and in the influence of its graduates in a wide range of endeavors.

Please join us November 3-4, 2016 as we celebrate 75 years of innovative scholarship in American Studies.

We wish to thank the following sponsors for their generous support of this symposium: the College of Liberal Arts, the Graduate School, the Department of African and African Diaspora Studies, the Department of English, the Department of History, the Department of Mexican and Latino/a Studies, the Center for Asian American Studies, the Center for Women’s and Gender Studies, the Schusterman Center for Jewish Studies, and the Warfield Center for African and African American Studies.
