The GDPR is horizontal privacy legislation that applies across all sectors and to companies of all sizes. The overall implication of the legislation: businesses must tell consumers that they are collecting data, what they intend to use it for, and to whom it will be disclosed.  The GDPR has a broader scope of application than previous regulations and introduces numerous new requirements for organizations that were not covered under previous regulations.  Fines for non-compliance can be up to 4 percent of the company\u2019s global revenue or up to 20 million euros (US $23 million), whichever is higher.
